“Luganske Zemliatstvo” will become a coordination center of help for internally displaced people

International non-governmental organization “Luganske Zemliatstvo” has been working in Kyiv for 16 years, but until 2014 its activities were of representative and educational nature. In the end of the March, 2015, a general meeting of the organization’s members was held, where it was unanimously decided to change the head of the of the organization’s board and to approve the new program of action.

“The change of priorities occurred firstly at the level of personal communication. Members of the organization collect and deliver humanitarian aid to cities and areas that have suffered in war actions, help with accommodation and employment for displaced people in Kiev and Kiev region. However, by the end of the last year, we realized that we can work much more effectively if we work as a team,” - said Vadym Goran, the newly elected head of “Luhanske Zemliatstvo”.

In 2015, “Luhanske Zemliatstvo” will work on solving of such key issues as legal support of displaced persons and businessmen moved from the ATO area, maximum assistance and lobbying of their interests at the level of public authorities and government, assistance in employment and retraining, seeking rent and so forth.

There will also be organized the systematic gathering and deliverance of humanitarian aid to those who could not leave the ATO area.

“We strongly disagree with the negative public opinion on the victims of the armed conflict, and are ready to work on formation of an adequate information policy towards immigrants. Hate speeches in media and social networks are the tool of public opinion manipulation, it is unfair and unjust to those who were forced to leave the Luhansk and Donetsk regions at risk to life and health,” - said Vadym Goran.

In addition, the NGO “Luhanske Zemliatstvo” is looking for cooperation with volunteer organizations (both formal and informal communities and groups).

“We can offer legal, informational, organizational and other support for volunteers. Now we are preparing launch of the project “Social Card for Migrants.” A number of businessmen from Kyiv, including immigrants from Luhansk and Donetsk regions, offer a special card, which gives discounts on medical, legal and other services, goods and products, for all the displaced people from the ATO area, who temporarily live in Kiev and Kiev region,” - said Vadym Goran, the head of “Luhanske Zemliatstvo”.

In addition, “Luhanske Zemliatstvo” are going to bring international charitable funds and grants in Ukraine to help IDP’s from Luhansk and Donetsk regions, business-structures that were forced to change their places of work, as well as to implement humanitarian projects helping those who still live on the territories uncontrolled by Ukraine.
